Thank you, Deirdre. Maybe time travel has to work that one: Somebody wins and does not. But in a fashion they both won.

So well done Bill. That was mind-bending and I'm envious of your vivid imagination. Not sure I could write a time travel story. - Jim

Wow. This was too complicated for "happily ever after," but it was the right ending. So sad, so tragic, but I love this story. Thank you.

Thank you, Jeannine. It took time to figure out the ending, but I think it's the one that had to be. I'm glad you liked the story.

Excellent story Bill! It’s easy to imagine this being built out into a feature-length film or series. 😀👍

My pleasure, Maya. I'm glad you enjoyed "Ella." I grew up in New York City, too, though not in the 1860s.

Great story! I started the story then stopped. Went through my other e-mails and when I got caught up, I sat back and drank my coffee and read the story. The twist at the end was fantastic.

Couldn't stop reading! Really enjoyed, quite a story for Ella to tell the grandkids. There were so many routes my mind went down and I never saw that ending coming...

This might be the best yet, Bill. Wildly imaginative … compelling, urging the reader forward, willing his crazy plan to work … and that twist. Perfect. Fine work!

Thank you, Barrie. I love time travel tales (I write them in part because I've run out of time travel stories to read) and I'm glad you enjoyed "Ella" so much.

I love time travel stories and this one was really great.

I just wish it had been longer - like reading a bit of the time spent with him and his wife before her death and then some about his time in the past while waiting for the opportunity to save Ella.

Thank you so much for sharing, Bill!

Thanks, Donna. I'm glad you enjoyed "Ella."

I had thought about diving into Scott's backstory, and may do that with a sequel. He's old now, but a lot of what seems to be impossible is possible with time travel.

What an interesting concept, Bill. It seems like a REAL and possible thing, a time tunnel for viewing the past. I am sure this could be built using holographic images right now. As for actually seeing and communicating with the past... well, not so much. A really engaging story!

Thanks, Sarron. I'm happy you enjoyed "Ella." I would love to walk through that tunnel, though there may be years in the past I'd like to escape to.

or, in my case, escape from...Yeah, just skip right over THOSE years, please.
