When my wife died of what appeared to be a sudden heart attack a few minutes after returning home from work late Tuesday evening, I should have called a funeral parlor, ambulance, or whatever you’re supposed to do, but instead, I drove Lilly to her office and propped her up in her chair so her boss could see how devoted she was to the company, and give her that promotion she longed for.
One-sentence stories are both challenging and fun to write. Can you squeeze a person’s entire existence into the space between the story’s first letter and period? While I publish a short story every Sunday, now and then I publish a shorter work mid-week.
