I relate to Bobby’s desire to be a kid again. Being an adult sucks sometimes. At the same time though, being an adult sometimes allows you to do the things you couldn’t as a child, which is nice.
I really enjoyed this, Bill. Bobby is such a fun character. I saw your comment below about possibly expanding this story, and I think that is a wonderful idea!
I think you'll really enjoy it. I'm pretty sure it's considered one of the first post-apocalyptic sci-fi fiction novels. Because it was published in 1951 it has the feel of those black and white movies with giant radiated ants or spiders.
So exciting! I still felt in warranted more though - possibly even a novel!
Thanks, Jilly. I delighted you enjoyed Bobby Severn's Flashlight. I felt that way, too: This story is only the beginning. I plan to expand it.

Both are good states of being. There's a part of me that very much misses being six again. But I'll continue to enjoy my adult life.

Thanks, Justin. Some of my stories become longer. I've slated Bobby Severn's Flashlight for a novella treatment. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Same here, Bill. Awesome! I look forward to reading its longer form someday. 😀
Well done Bill, another excellent story.
Thanks, Dan. This was fun one to write and I'm glad you enjoyed Bobby Severn's Flashlight.
Very enjoyable story - thank you for sharing!
Thank you, Rose. I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed Bobby Severn's Flashlight.
That was such a great story! It reminded me a bit of The Day of the Triffids, but even more fantastical 😁
Thanks, Brian. I'm glad you enjoyed Bobby Severn's Flashlight. I haven't read The Day of the Triffids, but I'm going to.
