Excellent first paragraph, wow! And, ha ha, great ending. It did seem to me that she wasn't very emotional about her loss, and maybe that set me up for the surprise ending. Very visual narrative and a nice flow from start to finish. Thank you, Bill.

Oh, I loved the dead body on the beach she had to move because of the high tide, We have all done a similar thing, but with beach chairs, not bodies.
Theory time: Whatever agency Maureen/Svetlana works for, they killed her husband so she wouldn't have any outside distractions.
