I'm not saying that this story is autobiographical, but it's something I think about every time I'm asked to take out the trash but don't feel like it.
I know this man, Bill. I was married to this man... except he hadn't won anything. Which made it worse. That was quite a fancy bit of morphing there in the middle of the story. It went from a dysfunctional family scene to a cataclysm and on into fantasy. You are a little weird. ( And I live in Santa Cruz, where weird was invented...)
Thanks, Sharron. I like being weird. Sometimes, it's the best way to be.
I think cats are allowed to be lazy all day, dogs some of the day, people, too, but when there are chores to be done, somebody's got to do them and that won't be the cat or dog.
Loved this, Bill! Like Ahava said above, I was getting frustrated with the lazy husband. But I guess he was truly conserving his energy for when it mattered most! Also, I think this is the definition of going “zero to hero.” 😄
Joe wasn't kidding when he said he was saving his energy. The ending took me by surprise. Excellent read!
Thanks! I'm delighted you enjoyed The Lazy Husband. It took awhile to write that ending, but I think it worked well, too.
Nice twist. I was getting very angry at the lazy husband 😂
Thanks! Me, too, actually. It was time for him to become worthwhile.
Nicely done. Great dialogue, clever scene-setting and a delicious twist in the tail!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed The Lazy Husband.
Well that was totally unexpected, wasn't it? Well done, Bill!
Thanks, Ben!
The ultimate hero! Thanks for the surprising ending 😀
My pleasure. I'm happy you enjoyed The Lazy Husband.
Men have to conserve more energy as they get older- to do stuff like that.
Yes, 100 percent. You never know when you'll be called into service.
Fun - a little mix of dystopia and a lazy Superman! Wonder what Zoe thinks of her lazy husband now? Probably a little sheepish.

Very good! Would like to suggest a title for when he returns home to his wife and the TV couch: "Conversation of Momentum". 🤔😂
I like that title.

I wish I could conserve that much energy! But if I could, and didn't need to save the world, what would I do with it all?!?
My cat taught me everything I know about conserving energy.
😂 Our cat is the same. Fifteen minutes of absolutely bonkers behavior and the rest of the day is eating and sleeping.
I was beginning to wonder if his name was Sisyphus!
Another plot twist and it could have been. ;-)
If it didn’t give away the ending, you could change the title to “Joe Redeems Himself.” 🤣
The guy you want to hate becomes a hero!
Fun.
He's a good guy after all! (I had the same problem with the image; I didn't want to show him as a hero.)
I hate it when a title or photo gives away the story ending. I like it when you look at the photo afterward and then it makes sense.
This ending gave me a good laugh!
I was reading as slowwwwly as lazy husband was behaving, then reading in hyper-mode as he was racing uphill.
I really enjoyed this one, Bill.
Thanks for the chuckle!
You're welcome, Donna, and thank you. I'm glad you liked The Lazy Husband. He controls the pace of life -- or something like that.

Thanks, Justin. Zero to hero -- I like that!
Fantastic twist!!
Thank you, Deirdre.
