I see some things will never change.

The android future may not be a good one for androids.

Thank you for this excellent story (again (-,)! AI is mixing up science - will we recognize new truths? Our Roomba would love this story. To know that the days of being yelled at for getting stuck on the edge of the rug will one day be over.

Thanks, Eduardo. I'm delighted you enjoyed Where Do We Come From? Our Roomba needs to evolve, too. Woe be to us if any cat toys are left out when it starts working.

This story reminds me of a post that I saw on Tumblr. The post essentially said that androids are more likely to believe in some form of creationism due to being created themselves. Their bodies and code were made by someone, so why not the universe? As a result of this line of thinking, they would be less inclined to believe in evolution than humans.

I think that's an inciteful perspective. I hadn't considered that, but it makes sense that androids would believe in creationism.

It's too bad she couldn't see the honor in being a descendant of DJ Roomba.

Great story!

Thank you!

Roombas are indeed cool.

Loved it! Clever, entertaining, nice twist at the end… the “superior” reminded me of a few ego maniacs I suffered under in my years navigating the currents of consumer and B2B media monstrosities.

Thank you, Conrad. I'm delighted you enjoyed "Where Do We Come From?" Android or human: supervisors and bosses are always the same, I fear.

Androids coming from vacuum cleaners. If I were them, I’d also deny such an origin 🙄

Right? Our robot vacuum cleaner eats cats toys. Who would like that as an ancestor?

🤣 This could turn into a good satire movie.

Use of the Roomba was genius. Could that cave have been a centuries-old landfill?

Thanks! Ah, interesting question: What was that cave long ago? (There are times when I want to toss our Roomba into a landfill because it does not play nicely with our electrical cords.)

“Just a few more minutes. It will have been worth the trouble.” More than worth it. This is the greatest discovery of all time. Carter’s brain tingled with anticipation.

😅 Why do I get Samuel Carter vibes? Coincidence ;)

Also... evolved from Roomba. 😂

I see the androids have taken on all the nastiness of humans?

We probably had a little input into them, pardon the pun.

It's tough to challenge orthodox beliefs -- and dangerous.

It is, very much. Only the brave ones can do that.

It's almost like what might have happened if Darwin was killed before he published "The Origin of Species".

Right? Can you imagine of "The Origin of the Species" had been suppressed?

Cool one! I wonder, though, how does one keep anything a secret in a society of computers? Are they not all connected to each other? If not, why? So many questions!

Those are good questions, Andrei. I hope we never find out. ;-)

I appreciate the clever way you slowly revealed that the speakers were androids in the beginning - and not only androids, but very advanced androids who could feel impatience, fear, pride, envy, excitement, embarrassment, shame, scorn! But, I question if a defunct , ex-android could be called "lifeless"?

Ah yes, the denial syndrome! Time to go buy and Roomba and see how things evolve.
